[38]
He was a goldsmith in London. He sailed to America on one of the eleven ships in John Winthrop's fleet. There is much about him in Abraham Alling on pg 122. He became incompetent in Sep 1643 in Greenwich, CT. Robert apprenticed 21 Sep 1615 for eight years to his father, who was a goldsmith. In 1630, he came to America with the Winthrop Fleet and settled in the Mass Bay Colony. He was made 18 May 1631 a freeman of Watertown, where he was one of the earliest and largest proprietors. Commissioned 4 Sep 1632 as a lieutenant under Captain Daniel PATRICK of Watertown, MA and served 3 Sep 1634 on a committee to prepare fortifications. Deputy to the General Court of MA Bay Colony from 1634-1636. Elected in 1636 and 1638 as selectman of Watertown, MA. In 1640, he and Capt. PATRICK purchased the site of Greenwich, CT from the Indians, but were forced in 1642 to become Dutch patroons. He was considered insane for several years before his death, however his mental illness may have been nothing more than frequent nervous breakdowns. Court testimony given by John BISHOP, Richard LAWE and Francis BELL states that Robert FEAKE "was a man whose God-fearing heart was so absorbed with spiritual and heavenly things that he little thought of the things of this life, and took neither heed nor care of what was tendered to his external property." Marrried before the end of Jan 1632 to Elizabeth
(FONES) WINTHROP, who may have received a legal divorce to marry William HALLETT Sr.

to Thomas BRIGHT, who for 60 pounds, sold it on 17 Dec 1640 to Col. William RAINBOROW.

possibly for care.

Ann TURNEY

Family 1 : Ephraim WHEELER

[87]
Her death is listed in several histories as after 1685 and before 1708.
I have put in the other Turneys' thinking they were part of the this
line..I still believe they are and will continue to search for a tie.
I believe that Anne is a sister Benjamin Turney or a early daughter.
They both have English births...It may be assumed that Ann wife of
Thomas Wheeler Sr. was closely related for in her will in 1659 she left her
best hat to Rebecca Turney..The will was witnessed by her father Robert
Turney. Robert was the son of Benjamin, also born in England in 1633..
To further prove this assumption..The Wheeler's, Turney's and Bateman's
all moved from Concord to Fairfield together in 1644 with the Rev. John Jones.
