Conflicting evidence creates a problem with the lineage from this Ebenezer to the common ancestor of the line, Nicholas Knapp. Some descendants claim that Ebenezer is the son of Joshua and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Knapp, while just as many claim he is the son of Moses and Elizabeth (Crissey) Knapp. While there is some doubt as to the correct lineage, it is as stated in this compilation pending further evidence that Ebenezer is assigned to the wrong parents. No single family record tracks this Ebenezer Knapp, back to Nicholas Knapp the 1630 immigrant without raising serious questions of relationship and parentage. As such it is beyond the ability of this compiler to further investigate the evidence to prove without doubt, beyond what is shown in this writing.
