I am trying to establish the actual mother of Joyce la Zouche de Mortimer. Her father William la Zouche de Mortimer, married twice. First to Alice de Toeni, which a lot of researchers give as the above Joyce's mother. However, according to the dates I can trace down, she was born after Alice died, and after William married Eleanor de Clare. This, of course, would make Eleanor her mother.

Eleanor de Clare was the d/o Gilbert de Clare (the Red) and Joan of Accra. Joan was the d/o of Edward 1 (Plantagent) and Eleanor of Castile.

Going back to Joyce la Zouche de Mortimer, she married John de Botetourte, the grandson of John de Botetourte - Lord Washingham, thought to be the illegitimate son of Edward 1.

These are my lines, but I need to pin down accurately Joyce la Zouche de Mortimer's mother.

I presume most of you have seen Brian Tompsett, of Hull, U.K.'s site www.deshull.ac.uk/public/genealogy/gedcom.html It is not complete, but very helpful.
